Recently, a wide-gauge train loaded with towels and other textile goods departed from the Alashankou Comprehensive Bonded Zone en route to Kazakhstan, marking the beginning of the pilot phase for the normalized wide-gauge direct loading model at the Alashankou Port, which adds new impetus to cross-border logistics.
The wide-gauge direct loading model utilizes the railway dedicated lines at the Alashankou Station and the Alashankou Comprehensive Bonded Zone to directly load export goods onto empty wide-gauge wagons that meet Kazakhstan's gauge standards at the port, subsequently transporting them out of the country. This achieves one domestic changeover, direct arrival at the destination by wide gauge, effectively reducing the waiting time and costs associated with the traditional changeover process. Data from participating enterprises' trials show that this model can compress changeover time by over 50%, saving about 12 hours in customs clearance time per trip. It not only improves efficiency but also significantly reduces transit risks and comprehensive transportation costs for goods.
Currently, the Alashankou Comprehensive Bonded Zone has built 22 railway dedicated lines (including 13 wide gauge and 9 standard gauge), providing a solid foundation for wide-gauge direct loading. Using the wide-gauge lines within the bonded zone for direct loading operations effectively supplements the loading capacity of the main railway yard station, while simultaneously enhancing the attractiveness and competitiveness of the bonded zone as a goods distribution center.
