On September 17, Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan co-chaired the 15th meeting of China-Mongolia Economic and Trade Joint Committee with the Vice Prime Minister of Mongolia Enkhtuvshin Ulziisaikhan. Representatives of the related departments of the two countries attended the meeting.
Zhong Shan said that China and Mongolia are good neighbors with adjoining mountains and rivers. In recent years, the leaders of the two countries had several meetings, pointing out the direction of the bilateral relations. Guided by the leaders of the two countries, the two countries’ cooperation in various fields of economy and trade enjoyed rapid growth, continuously enriching the connotations of the comprehensive strategic partnership. China attached great attention to the economic and trade cooperation with Mongolia, and was satisfied with the achievements gained through bilateral economic and trade cooperation. In the future, China will follow the concept of “amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness ” and the policy of making friends with neighboring countries and being their partner, and together with Mongolia, strengthen the connectivity of development strategies, promote the cooperation on “Belt and Road” initiative, expand bilateral trade cooperation, deepen bilateral investment cooperation, accelerate the implementation of the projects agreed by the two countries especially those major cooperation projects concerning people’s livelihood, support the border provinces and regions of the two countries to strengthen economic and trade communications and cooperation, jointly oppose unilateralism and trade protectionism, promote China-Mongolia economic and trade relations to step onto a new stage, and make the achievements of bilateral cooperation benefit the two countries and their people more.
Enkhtuvshin Ulziisaikhan said that China is the priority of Mongolia’s foreign relations. Mongolia is willing to strengthen its cooperation with China, and make it one typical example of neighboring countries’ cooperation. Mongolia supports and actively participates in the construction of “Belt and Road,” and hopes that the two countries would strengthen cooperation in energy minerals, infrastructure, husbandry, finance, port and transit shipment, expand Mongolia’s export of minerals and farm products and pasture product to China, and promote the implementation of related important projects. He thanked China for inviting Mongolia to attend the first China International import Expo. He hoped that the bilateral trade volume would reach US$ 10 billion in 2020 through joint efforts with China.
After the meeting, Minister Zhong Shan and Vice Prime Minister Enkhtuvshin Ulziisaikhan signed the Minutes of the Meeting of the 15th China-Mongolia Economic and Trade Joint Committee.
