CCPIT & Britain’s 48 Group Club celebrated 65th anniversary of “ice-breaking trip” of British trade

A dinner banquet celebrating the 65th anniversary of the “ice-breaking trip” of Britain’s 48 Group Club was held in Beijing on October 16. Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Zhang Shenfeng and Stephen Perry, Chairman of Britain's 48 Group Club attended and addressed the banquet.

Zhang Shenfeng noted, Sino-UK economic and trade cooperation has achieved progress and breakthrough in the past 65 years. Zhang suggested that CCPIT and Britain’s 48 Group Club continue to serve as the bridge for the business communities of both sides.

Stephen Perry said, the 48 Group Club will continue to promote China-UK friendly relations.

Jack Perry, the late founder of the pioneering London Export Corp and father of Stephen, in the 1950s when the British entrepreneur led a group of 48 businessmen from the United Kingdom to visit China despite the trade barriers with the West during the Cold War.

The trip became known as the "Icebreaking Mission", and the club members called themselves "icebreakers". The 48 Group Club now has more than 500 members.
