Chairperson of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Gao Yan met with Alexandre Meira da Rosa, Deputy Governor of Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) in Zhuhai on November 1.
Meira paid his visit to China as he was attending the 12th China-Latin America and the Caribbean (China-LAC) Business Summit.
Gao Yan said, Latin American countries have achieved economic and social progress in the past few years with rapid integration process and enhanced international status. Now Latin America has become one of the regions with the most development potentials in the world.
“China and Latin America bear common interest in safeguarding multilateral trade system, oppose unilateralism and trade protectionism. We hope Latin American partners can cooperate with us in promoting Sino-LAC trade liberalization and facilitation. We are willing to work with IADB to deepen practical cooperation in all fields between China and Latin America, contributing to the development of Sino-Latin American relations,” added Gao.
Meira noted, as a flagship brand for Sino-LAC economic and trade cooperation, China-Latin America and the Caribbean (China-LAC) Business Summit has contributed to promoting China-LAC friendship and cooperation. The Belt and Road Initiative has provided new opportunities for Latin American countries to speed up economic and social development. The IADB will continue to support Latin American countries to contribute to the Belt and Road construction and lift Sino-LAC cooperation to a new level.
