Assistant Foreign Minister Li Chenggang Attended the 7th WTO Round Table Meeting on “Chinese Project

On September 26-27, the 7th WTO Round Table Meeting on the Least Developed Countries’ Accession to “Chinese Projects” was held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Attending were nearly 30 WTO members, applicants and 60 representatives of relevant international institutions. The meeting discussed the accession to the WTO and the impacts on the multilateral trading system. Assistant Minister of MOFCOM Li Chenggang led a delegation to attend the meeting and delivered a speech at the closing ceremony. Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Yerbolat Dossayev and WTO Director-General Roberto Azevedo attended the closing ceremony and delivered speeches too. During the meeting, Assistant Minister Li Chenggang also held talks with the Director-General of Azevedo and exchanged views on relevant issues such as the work of the WTO. Ambassador Zhang Xiangchen of our Permanent mission to the WTO attended the round table meeting and was present in the talks between Assistant Minister Li Chenggang and Director General Azevedo.

The “Chinese Project” was established in July, 2011. The round table meeting has been held in China, Laos, Tajikistan, Kenya, Cambodia and Argentina for six times, and has been well received by all sides.
