Xinhua news agency, Beijing, April 7 (reporter Xie Xiyao) - the Ministry of Commerce announced on the 7th that the protocol between the government of the people's Republic of China and the government of New Zealand on upgrading the free trade agreement between the government of the people's Republic of China and the government of New Zealand entered into force on the same day.

It is understood that the upgrade protocol further expands the market opening of China and New Zealand in the fields of goods, services and investment, further improves the level of rules such as trade facilitation, and adds four chapters such as e-commerce, competition policy, government procurement, environment and trade, which is more in line with the needs of modern economic and trade development.

The upgraded protocol has further improved the quality and efficiency of the free trade relations between China and New Zealand on the basis of the China New Zealand Free Trade Agreement and the regional comprehensive economic partnership agreement (RCEP), which will help further deepen the practical cooperation between the two countries in various fields, release the dividend of high-level Opening-up policy, promote the liberalization and facilitation of bilateral trade and investment, and constantly enrich and enrich the connotation of the China New Zealand comprehensive strategic partnership.

The China New Zealand free trade agreement was signed on April 7, 2008 and implemented on October 1 of the same year. China and New Zealand launched negotiations on the upgrading of the free trade agreement in November 2016 and signed the upgrading protocol on January 26, 2021.
