Recently, the national submarine optical cable network project of Papua New Guinea financed by export import bank was completed ahead of schedule. The smooth progress of the project marks a breakthrough in the construction of international communication network in Papua New Guinea.

It is reported that the project is a milestone in the field of communication between China and Papua New Guinea, and it is also one of China's exemplary achievements in the Pacific island region. As the first submarine optical cable with full autonomy in Papua New Guinea, the project is about 5400 km long, connecting 14 major domestic cities such as Port Moresby, Madang and Laicheng, and connecting with Indonesia to form a new international port.

The novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic is spreading around the world as the project is about to be completed. The export import bank strengthened the communication and coordination with the local government, project owners and Chinese construction enterprises to overcome the adverse impact of construction environment and ensure the smooth implementation and early completion of the project.

After the completion of the project, the communication infrastructure level of Papua New Guinea will be further improved, the network tariff standards of local enterprises and residents will be effectively reduced, the access speed with international network will be greatly improved, and the national communication security will be guaranteed.

China's one belt, one road initiative will continue to link Papua's New Guinea's major strategy, deepen bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation and contribute to China's common development with the Pacific island countries.
