A macadamia nut conference will be held in southwest China's Yunnan Province this year, the provincial foresty department said Saturday.
Visitors from Australia, South Africa and Brazil will attend the conference scheduled for October 17 in Lincang City.
"The macadamia nut industry in Yunnan has become a key project in poverty relief," said Zhao Guixiang, deputy mayor of Lincang. "By 2020, the value of the macadamia nut industry in Yunnan will exceed 10 billion yuan."
Yunnan started to grow macadamias in the 1980s and is now one of the world's largest producers.
