Chinese local governments have recently stepped up efforts to support the development of the industrial internet industry, an important sector in the construction of the new infrastructure, reported Economic Information Daily Tuesday.

Since May this year, Guangdong, Hebei, Hubei, Shanghai and Shenyang among others have introduced measures to boost the development of the industrial internet industry, with the goal of fostering and bringing in leading industrial internet firms and building industrial internet regional development highlands.

Shanghai proposed to speed up the layout of industrial internet clusters to drive 150,000 enterprises to settle on cloud platforms by relying on the G60 Science and Innovation Corridor.

Hebei Province will promote the integration of provincial-level county-specific characteristic industrial clusters with Haier and other industrial internet enterprises, striving to cultivate at least one industrial internet platform for industries or industrial clusters in each city.

Zhejiang Province plans to achieve full coverage of 11 cities by building a "1 + N" industrial internet platform system, helping the integrated development of different industries.

With the support of 5G technology, multiple regions in China, including Hubei, Guangdong provinces and Shenyang, capital city of Liaoning Province, have started or plan to start construction of "5G+ industrial internet" projects involving related application demonstration parks, smart factories, digital workshops and other fields.

Driven by 5G technology and relevant policies, the role of industrial internet in driving economic integration is expected to emerge quickly, believed insiders.

According to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, a scientific research institute directly under China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the economic added value of China's industrial internet industry is likely to reach about 3.1 trillion yuan this year, which will drive the creation of 2.55 million new jobs.
