On September 6, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of MOFCOM and Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan and Deputy Secretary of Hainan Provincial Committee and Governor Shen Xiaoming held work talks, jointly studying the implementation of the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and strengthening the linkage between the Ministry and the Province to form a joint effort, thus pushing Hainan's opening up cause towards new development, new improvement and new breakthroughs.
Member of Standing Committee of Hainan Provincial Committee and Vice Governor Mao Chaofeng, Vice Governor Peng Jinhui, Vice Governor Shen Danyang, and Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming attended the meeting.
Zhong Shan said that under the strong leadership of CPC with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the development of Hainan Province is facing unprecedented opportunities. Supporting the construction of a free trade pilot zone in Hainan Island, and supporting Hainan to gradually explore and steadily promote the construction of a free trade port with Chinese characteristics are major national strategies that General Secretary Xi Jinping planned in person, deployed in person and promoted in person. They are also the CPC’s major decisions focusing on the big picture of international and domestic development after deep research, coordinated consideration and scientific planning; they are also the major measures to demonstrate China's determination, expand its opening up, and actively promote economic globalization. MOFCOM will thoroughly study and comprehend the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech, resolutely implement the decisions and plans of the CPC and the State Council to increase support for Hainan in the areas of free trade pilot zone construction, foreign investment utilization, outward investment e-commerce, and business personnel training, helping turning Hainan into “the new benchmark for comprehensively deepening reforms in the new era”.
Shen Xiaoming thanked MOFCOM for its long-term concern and support for Hainan's business work. He said that the Hainan Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government attach great importance to the opening up and are studying and implementing President Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, actively creating a sound investment environment, continuously lifting the level of foreign investment utilization, and improving the core competitiveness of the open economy. It’s hoped that the MOFCOM will continue to support the business work in Hainan Province. Hainan Province will conscientiously implement the Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry and Province and push the cause of opening up to a new level.
After the meeting, Zhong Shan and Shen Xiaoming jointly signed framework Agreement on the Establishment of Cooperation Mechanism between Ministry of Commerce and the People's Government of Hainan Province.
