Singapore's non-oil domestic exports to Chinese mainland rebounds in December 2018

Singapore's non-oil domestic exports (NODX) to Chinese mainland increased by 15.4 percent year-on-year in December 2018, compared to the previous month's contraction of 16.4 percent, according to a media release issued by a government agency Enterprise Singapore on Thursday.

In a breakdown, the electronic exports of Singapore to Chinese mainland jumped by 60.5 percent year-on-year, while the non-electronic exports went up 1 percent year on year.

Among Singapore's top ten NODX markets, only Chinese mainland and the United States saw Singapore's NODX to them increased last December.

Singapore's total NODX declined by 8.5 percent year-on-year in December 2018, after the recalculated 2.8 percent decrease in November. On a month-on-month seasonally adjusted basis, the NODX decreased by 5.7 percent in December to 14 billion Singapore dollars (about 10.33 billion U.S. dollars).

In a breakdown of Singapore's total NODX, Singapore's electronic exports declined by 11.2 percent year-on-year in December 2018, after the 4.3 percent growth in the previous month. Meanwhile, Singapore's non-electronic exports declined by 7.4 percent year-on-year, after the 5.4 percent decrease in November.
