Ukraine's agricultural exports stood at 8.6 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of 2018, down 2.3 percent year on year, official figures showed on Monday.

The Agriculture Ministry said in a statement that grain and vegetable oil were the largest contributors to exports earnings in January through June, with a share of 36.8 percent and 26.2 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, the exports of poultry eggs, seed-bearing fruits and legumes recorded the strongest growth in the first six months of the year, the ministry said.

According to the statement, in the first half of 2018, China was the third-largest destination for the exports of Ukrainian farm products after India and Egypt, buying 526.6 million dollars worth of such goods.

Ukraine's agricultural exports reached 17.9 billion dollars last year, the highest level since 2012.
