Chairman of the CCPIT, CCOIC and ICC China Jiang Zengwei met with Swire Group CEO Merlin Swire on June 8. Both sides exchanged opinions on the enhancement of bilateral cooperation and China-U.K. economic and trade relationship.
Jiang said that President Xi Jinping’s visit to U.K. last year opened up a golden era of China-U.K. relationship that features sustainability, openness and mutual benefits. China-U.K. economic and trade cooperation has a solid foundation and has achieved important accomplishments. Currently, the CCOIC is enhancing cooperation with ICC, which is the requirement of the era. The CCOIC has started internal reform since past year, to lay a solid foundation for providing services for its members. The CCOIC will increase cooperation with Swire Group and other membership companies.
Merlin Swire said that as U.K. has become member state of AIIB (Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank), China and U.K. will increase mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and economy, and improve the China-U.K. relationship under the spirit of openness and stability. Swire Group will further support China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative and increase cooperation under its framework. It will also support the work of the CCOIC by participating into its activities, and support the work of ICC China Commission on Customs and Trade Facilitation.
John Slosar, chairman of Swire Hong Kong, Shao Shichang, board director of Swire Hong Kong, Adrian Harley, board director and chief representative of John Swire & Sons China, Chen Xiaoying, senior representative of John Swire & Sons China, Yu Jianlong, secretary-general of the CCOIC, and Zhao Zhenge, director general of ICC Affairs Department of the CCOIC attended the meeting.
