According to statistics from the German Electrical Industry Association (ZVEI), China will become the largest export target country for German electrical products in 2020.

Data show that in 2020, the German electrical industry's exports to China totaled 23.3 billion euros, an increase of 6.5% year-on-year, and the increase exceeded the level before the new crown pneumonia epidemic. The United States became the second largest export market for the German electrical appliance industry with an export value of 17.3 billion euros, but it fell sharply by 9.8% from 2019.

China is also Germany's largest source of imports of electrical products. In 2020, Germany's total imports of electrical products from China reached 54.9 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%.

German Federal Foreign Trade and Investment Agency expert Milbrecht said that the German electrical appliance industry began to show signs of recovery in the second half of last year, and the business environment continued to improve. The current operating status and business expectations of the industry have improved significantly. In December last year, the German electrical industry orders increased by 13% compared to the same period in 2019, fully demonstrating the strong recovery momentum of the industry. Milbrecht particularly emphasized that a very important reason for the recovery of the German electrical appliance industry under the epidemic is the growth of demand in the Chinese market. German products are still extremely attractive to the Chinese market.
